 | 'Carry on Showing'
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR WEB SITES ABOUT THE CARRY ON SERIES OF FILMS, THEN THIS SITE IS NOT FOR YOU.
(THIS SITE WAS UPDATED ON: 25. 09. 2005.)
Greetings, and Welcome to this 'Communigate' Web Site, which has been created by Bernie, a part of 'The Dynamic Duo in Derbyshire'
When my friends suggested I should write my autobiography, I published a trial run of just 100 copies. Then I was asked if there would be a reprint, well sadly the answer to that will be no, because it's too expensive to do small printing runs. So I decided to publish to a web site, and a web version of "Carry on Showing" was the result.
'This is the Black Country' (on Communigate) was picked as the original web site, where I could include lots of photographs from my personal collection. My friends and I think it is ideal, and has easy access. However, this is now a link to take you to the NEW updated site on 'THIS IS RYEDALE'
You can be transported there by clicking on the link below: See you there! |

However,
If you can resist looking up my kilt and want to browse web sites about the “Carry on” films, then you should leave now, because there are some excellent sites on the Internet, all run by dedicated fans.
Otherwise: I hope you enjoy reading my story, which covers 35 years of my life in entertainment. Now in retirement I enjoy reflecting on the past, and though you will not know the people in my story, you will realise what a happy career I’ve had.
For some years now, my friends have been suggesting that I write my autobiography, as they told me that I had lived quite an interesting life in entertainment. It is true, I possibly could have done more than most people of my age, as the things I have been involved in have covered many subjects.
The story involves the entertainment side, and I believe that the private side should be kept private! I am also stuck in my old fashioned ways, for example, I must be about the only person in the United Kingdom who does not have access to a mobile phone. I honestly believe that if anyone wants me bad enough they can ring me when I am at home, not in the countryside, or having a nice meal somewhere. If they do not think the same, then hard luck on them, and why bother ringing me at all?
I really am your typical male chauvinist pig; I think both the sexes have got things too easy in this world, and we should think ourselves lucky.
By the way, do not bother reading the story if you are somehow expecting a kiss and tell type of theme, because you will not find anything in there I can tell you; all that I am keeping quite about, so I can go back for more!
I would like to thank all my friends for the support they have given me in the past, like when I had cancer, and all the other things that happened around that time. A special thanks to my dear friend Joan, if she ever gets to read this, and to Ernest who has put up with me for some years now. |
A Dedication:.
 | The Stars of the *Carry On* series of films - they were some of the finest British actors and actresses.
I think I would like to dedicate this autobiography to my late friend Harold Brown, he was everything a friend could be, and I still miss him even though he passed away eight years ago.
Joan Tolley, who you will meet later, asked me the difference between a biography, and an autobiography, well we all know that do we not?
The biography is written at home; and an autobiography is written while sitting in the back of the car, by the roadside. I thought everyone knew that, but not Joan it seems!

Harold Brown - Projectionist:
This was Harold Brown, who I became good friends with during my entertainment career. Harold worked at many of the cinemas in Derbyshire, and is mentioned in the Dave Roddis book *The Thrill of It All*
My web site, and story is dedicated to his memory.
Well the leaders running down fast, (5), (4), (3), (2), (1), so click on the link to read "Carry on Showing".
Bye for now....................... | |
