FRIENDS OF DUDLEY ARCHIVES & LOCAL HISTORY SERVICE

ABOUT US

FDALHS was formed in 2001. We exist to raise money to purchase useful items for the Dudley Archives Service that are not provided by the Borough and to transcribe parish, census and other records.

We hold meetings at the Archives premises in Mount Pleasant Street, Coseley on the first Thursday of each month at 7.30 p.m. These meetings consist of talks on family and local history topics by visiting speakers.

Membership of the Friends costs £8 per annum for which a quarterly newsletter is provided plus free admission to the talks. Non-members, who are always welcome to attend meetings as visitors, are asked to pay £1.50

Application forms for membership may be obtained from The Membership Secretary, Mr David Crofts, 58 Conway Crescent, Willenhall, West Midlands, WV12 5T

Dudley Archives & Local History Service has free public access to Ancestry. Don't know how to use Ancestry? Why don't you take advantage of our "computer buddy" system and book a session on Thursday afternoons from 2.00p.m. (in 2 hour slots)where our volunteers will assist you in finding your ancestors. Telephone 01384 812770 to book a computer.

If you need any help in your research, please use the Message Board so that somebody can get back to you and not the Guest Book. Many thanks.

Please contact Sylvia Butler on fdalhs@aol.com for price lists details of Transcriptions both in book form or CD .
thank you
Currently volunteers are transcribing and checking surname indexes of the Dudley Union Workhouse Admission & Discharge Registers, Burial Registers of St John's Church, Kates Hill, Dudley and Burial Registers of St Thomas' Church, Dudley.
