i was brought up in wollaston at 34 Apley road during the great times of the sixties/seventies. My happy memories of playing in the old pig sties, on the site of old wollaston hall still brings a smile to my face.
Making camps with my great friends from next door nicky, kim, and steve southall, i would love to no how they all are today. Thankyou to every body who contributes to the How Group. Keep up the good work.

My parents bought one of the small houses at the very bottom of Apley Rd, and we lived there through the war years. These houses are on the site of Wollaston Hall,(see Map in HOW book).I am now 75. I remember my Dad uncovered a deep shaft in the back garden which appeared to be a well. Could that have been the Hall's source of water I wonder? The old and derelict terraces and grounds were a wonderful place to play with friends. The Home Guard used to dig trenches there for training.

I was really interested to discover this site. I am researching my family history and was following up my ancestor Walter George Andrews who lived first in New Street then Lincoln Road, Wollaston until his death in 1969. He was a Head Groom until retirement (possibly around 1958) but I've no idea where his place of work was and wonder if anyone has any ideas please?

Ive been researching my family tree for the past year ,and have the book history of wollaston which I have found very interesting and informative but I found in your book that on page 189 ref to george mark which should be george moody born 1844 to george moody a glass cutter and ann moody(maiden name wild).
george moody b1844 became a bookseller aprentice, ref census 1861 and it was he who became partner to thomas mark to become mark & moodys printers ect
this makes him related to me which is a complete suprise as I've be tracing the children of my blood line only recently,
I hope that this piece of information can be corrected in your next publication
