Beavers
At our last meeting on tuesday the photographer from the Keighley News came to take a photograph of the Challenge Flag Team proudly showing of the Flag. On hand to present the flag was Emma the Assistant District Commisioner for Beavers.
The Theme for the evening was a night at the pictures with a Disney cartoon and lashings of Popcorn, Ice cream lollies and pop, which was bought by the Beavers with token cards to give them an understanding of their purchasing powers. Sweeping up the "Cinema" after the show was of course carried out by the Leaders - thats show buisness!
Crossroads Cubs
A Crossroads cubs pack team entered the Cub Badge Challenge day on Saturday 14 October. All the Cubs managed to visit at least six of the Bases provided at Silsden Methodist Hall and included the following - First Aid, Musician, Collectors, Hobbys, Athletics, Readers and Writers, Artist and Home Help, Map reading and photographer. Well done Mark for a well organised event and a big thanks to all the other leaders running the bases and testing the Cubs.
Crossroads Scouts
The Crossroads Scout troop visited the Accident and Emergency department of Airedale General Hospital at Steeton on Thursday October 12th. Maureen - The senior Sister in the Department did a fantastic job of both instructing and entertaining the troop in various parts of the department. We had one scout on the bed in the resus room with ecg electrodes - pulse oximeter probe and oxygen mask demonstrating how an emergecy would be delt with.
A visit to the plaster room ended with all scouts having a plaster of paris cast put on one arm. We also managed a quick visit to the X-ray room before being thoroughly entertained and given full access to all parts of a visiting ambulance by Ray and his paramedic Collegue.
A very big thankyou to Airedale Hospital for our very enjoyable visit and with special thanks to Maureen without who these visits would not be possible - thanks.
