Two Teams from Crossroads Compete in Indoor Cooking
 | At the District indoor cooking competition held at the Fell Lane Scout Centre on Feb 3rd 2001 Crossroads Scouts had two teams competing.
Team A consisting of Josh and Stuart managed sixth place overall and Team B consisting of Rachel and Beth came 8th overall.
The teams had to cook a meal for two with a budget of $4.75 with as much imagination as possible with either a 2 or 3 course meal in mind.
Cooking is done on simple two burner gas stoves which would be consistant with a normal campsite cooking facility and the contest is held to represent those kind of conditions with very little else to assist the competitors.
The Team from Haworth came first and will represent the District at the County indoor cooking competition early in March.
The next District competition that Crossroads will be entering at least one team of Scouts will be the Scout Shuffle - a day long wide game in which participants are require to navigate a route from the starting position at least 15 miles from the finishing point avoiding capture by a number of chasers along the route. They must arrive back at the finishing point at a particular time with the least number of captures along the route.
Also coming soon will be the District Five-a side football competition - always a very well turned out event in the district and Held at the
Hartington School playing fields in Haworth.
The Cub Scouts and The Beaver Colony are also thriving at Crossroads and we hope to see them competing in District competitions soon as well. |
