Would you ever go naked on stage?
Yes, gladly
Absolutely no way
Only if I was being paid lots of money
As long as my friends and family weren't there
Hmmm, not really sure

Stage Fighting Workshop

SUNDAY 17TH AUGUST 2003
ST ANDREW'S CHURCH HALL, SKIPTON

The workshop was run by James Masters, an experienced professional actor, who kindly agreed to give up his Sunday afternoon to teach us how to stage fight effectively and safely.

James has successfully co-ordinated many complex stage fight sequences in the past, and during the two-hour event he offered expert tuition on various unarmed stage fighting techniques.

After splitting up into pairs and practising how to punch, slap and kick each other into the middle of next week, participants performed a short sketch to demonstrate what they had learned.

During the workshop, James (and his assistant Anne) also gave a quick demonstration of armed combat using epees and plastic piping.

Everyone who took part agreed the workshop was great fun and thoroughly useful, and we hope to organise many similar events in the future.

Of the 16 people that attended, eight were existing members, eight were new or lapsed members and two came from nearby Pateley Bridge Dramatic Society, after an open inviatation was extended to other local amdram groups.

We believe this kind of co-operation and sharing of resources between local theatre groups is highly beneficial for all parties concerned. Those societies that chose to remain insular and view other groups as competitors need to take a broader view, especially given falling audiences and the lack of interest in amateur theatre among the younger generation.

If you missed this workshop and would like to get involved with The Arcadia Players, make sure you contact us and we will keep you informed of any future group events.

In the meantime, why not take a look at some photographs taken during this particular workshop. Click on the link below to see the images, which are displayed on our official Web site...
