The Story so far;

Recent new research techniques have indicated that Baildon,or more rightly 'Baldur' named after Odin's son, was the home to a substantial Viking settlement around the time of the last Millenium.
This fact, coupled with our Societies own local investigations have uncovered the shock that direct descendents of this ancient Warrior race are still living amongst us.D.N.A. testing soon to be revealed by the BBC's new programme about the Vikings will prove the link between 'then' and 'now'.In advance of that programme,however, we can reveal the names of our Local Vikings;
Wolf Bloodaxe,Thor Wildog,Freyer Redhair,Loki Spearbiter and Gunnar Hammerfist are all people who claim and can show their heritage.
Obviously these are not the names you will find in the Telephone Directory, but fascinatingly,we have found an unwritten Code has kept these people aware of their heritage and customs.
We have been privileged to have been given access to their Chieftain,'Walter Thornogson'who has agreed to allow us to quote some of his 'Words of Wisdom'in a future Web-Page 'The Sage Speaks'.
