Bangladeshi Youth FC
The young Bangladeshi Youth Organisation side made an immediate impression when they joined the Bradford Sunday Alliance. In their first season they gained promotion from division 4A. They followed that up by moving up to division 2A in the last campaign. Now they are bidding for a hat-trick of promotions. Formed from the Bangladeshi Youth Organisation in Cornwall Road, Manningham, the majority of the lads started playing together as eight and nine-year-olds in five-a-side and 11-a-side friendlies. After securing sponsorship, the next development was to enter open age football. Harun Miah was their only player who had previously experienced open-age football but it did not prove to be a handicap for them. Abdul Rouf’s side finished a creditable fourth in a division 4A won by their arch-rivals Heaton United. It was Heaton who ended their bid to win the League Cup when they defeated them in the semi-finals. Last season they found themselves engaged in a battle with Wrose for the division 3A title. Bangladeshi led the division with ten wins from 12 matches. That was championship form but a disappointing spell of four wins from their last eight games was to ruin their hopes. Wrose put together a storming finish and eventually took the title by seven points, but Bangladeshi were promoted with them. The club has even more youngsters coming through the ranks this season and it would be no surprise if they do not branch out with a second team. |
