Bankfoot Lions FC

The club was founded in 1995 as an Under-15 side. They  played in the Huddersfield Gelpack League for the 1995-1996 season, finishing third behind champions Athersley and Wyke Wanderers.
The second year was spent in the Craven League where once again the team finished in third. This time behind Farsley Celtic and Rawdon FC.
In 1998, with most of the team reaching 18, Bankfoot took their first step into open age football and joined the Bradford Sunday Alliance League.
At this time they lost half the squad as some of the side felt they were not ready for this level of competition
It was a hard and challenging season and the team finished bottom with minus three points after being punished for a rules infringement. Since that first season the Lions have bared their teeth. They have made steady progress, finishing their latest campaign with 21 points. For the first time since the club was formed they have a base at Manningham Mills CC.
Bankfoot still have three players – Matthew Spence, David Greenwood and John Thompson – who have been with them since formation.
The Lions have played in two Ibiza Cup Tournaments in 1998 and 1999, finishing second then third. They also play annually in a five-a-side tournament – last season they were runners-up after losing in the final on penalties.
