Course Aims: For BMEP to offer a range of resources which will capture the imagination of young people who are having difficulties at school and whose skills can be developed by the exploitation of their interest in motor vehicles.
Course duration: Twelve weeks, delivered term time only on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. 10am – 12.30pm for the morning session, the afternoon session commences at 1pm and finishes at 3.30pm.
Course content: A range of basic servicing and quick fit skills that will be done on various road and fun vehicles. Vehicle ownership, legalities and consequences of misuse of vehicles are also an integral part of the placements.
Insurance cover: We hold liability insurance. All attendees must become a member of the project and have the declaration signed by parent or guardian. An OP-1 work experience form should also be completed through Bradford Education.
Agencies can buy a full 36 weeks place @ £30 per day per individual, this would ensure a secured place for the school year. These are broken down into three twelve-week places giving three different people an experience.Additional info: Travelling arrangements and lunch are the responsibility of the referring agency or individual.
Safety boots are to be supplied by referring agency, parents/guardian. All other personal protective equipment will be provided by BMEP.
Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award in the skill section is offered as part of the course this is optional and doesn’t require any extra work. Youthtrain through B.Y.D.P. will also be supported as part of the programme. Feedback – each young person will have an attendance form which will be completed every time they attend, if they fail to attend the agency contact person will be notified.
