Bradford's Independent Library
Originally founded in 1832 as an educational centre serving the demands of industry in Bradford, the Mechanics Institute today functions as a subscription library.
Generously stocked with over 14,000 books (largely fiction) and media resources and with daily and weekly newspapers, magazines and tea/coffee making facilities, the Library provides a haven in the City of Bradford.
Members can also attend the meetings of a range of interest groups which meet regularly in the Library's JB Priestley Room.
Those seeking a quiet few moments or who share an interest in books, local history, gardening, Bridge, the Brontes, poetry or the Great War will find like-minded members who enjoy the social contact the Library generates.
Please contact the staff to arrange a preliminary visit, or for details of opening times and current subscription rates.
