Welcome!

Welcome to the Craven Guild of Lacemakers.
Formed in 1986, we are a small group of like-minded people who meet regularly for a social day of lacemaking.

Working with bobbin or needle, we are part of the growing number of enthusiasts striving, not only to keep the art of lacemaking alive, but to bring it forward into the 21st Century.

Lace does not have to be used exclusively on wedding and christening gowns - today's lacemakers are working with colour and texture, metallic threads and wire to form artistic, contemporary pieces. Although this is exciting work, many of our members choose to uphold tradition and use patterns that have been handed down through generations. There is a place for both disciplines in the world of the modern lacemaker.

As a group we hold regular trips to venues with a lace-related theme, some of our members teach lacemaking, and others are willing to go out into the community and give talks and demonstrations to various local groups and societies. We are also active as demonstrators at local shows and galas.

Meet:
Third Wednesday of each month

Swadford Centre, Skipton. (Opposite the Co-op)
