Clayton Baptist Church

Clayton Baptist Church built in 1830. Todays church is the third church built on this site.

Green Top Farm

This picture was taken in 1905. Green Top Farm has long since been demolished. It was replaced by The Green Top Restaurant and is now a nursery.

Town Gate

Town Gate c 1900 showing Town Bottom Farm, The Wells and the former Whittle and Steel public house at the rear. Clayton House is behind the trees on the left.

Clayton Lane

This picture of Clayton Lane is an image of what life used to be like. One pedestrian,stood in middle of the road, one horse and cart also parked in the middle of the road. How times have changed.

Julius Whithead Observatory

This picture from Fall Top shows the chimney and house, with observatory, of Julius Whithead, manufacturer of fire clay products in the first part of the 20th century. Situated at Hole Bottom.

High Birks Wood

The beautiful High Birks Wood is situated between West Scholes and Headley. It is featured in the History Groups publication."Walks around Clayton"
