Welcome to Cleckheaton U3A
 | Cleckheaton University of the Third Age meets for all its classes in the historic Cleckheaton Town Hall and is a university in the original sense of the word - people coming together to learn. The U3A provides opportunities to develop new interests and creative skills and to make new friends. The U3A is an international organisation although each local group is an independent unit, self-supporting and non-profit making.
ABOUT US Ours is a comparatively small group of people (who must all be over 50 years age) living mainly in the Spen Valley. We provide a mixed programme of educational, creative, physical and social activities. Keeping mind and body active maintains an enthusiasm for living and promotes healthy ageing. Our U3A cannot exist without you the member; please pass the word among your friends and acquaintances - or anyone you chance to chat to! If you feel able to lead a group or know of someone who would be interested please let us know either by contacting any committee member or by e-mailing us on this site. We are always in need of new tutors/group leaders to extend our range of topics. All committee members are elected and any member may seek nomination.
The U3A is an entirely voluntary organisation which relies on the efforts of its members to keep running. None of its officers receive payment and the tutors receive only a small honorarium.
THE FUTURE
We intend to develop this site as an alternative means of communication with our present and future members. Any comments via our contact facility or guest book would be welcome.

Committee for 2008-9
At the recent AGM the new Committee was elected for the coming session. One of its first duties was to meet with the tutors to consolidate arrangements for the year and to get to know the new tutors joining us for the first time at Cleckheaton. This meeting was held after the Summer Group meeting on 2 May.
Some of the Committee are shown below.
