Basic Rules

To ensure that training with Dal Seong Taekwondo Club is an enjoyable and educational experience for all, please ensure that you commit yourself to the following guidelines:

All training uniforms and additional equipment must be WTF approved (as Kukkiwon and WTF rules prohibit unauthorised and potentially unsafe equipment to be used in competitions of any nature and promotion tests). All the equipment you need can be ordered through your instructor.

Students cannot train unless they are licenced and insured through Dal Seong Taekwondo (please see your instructor).

Any injuries must be reported to your instructor prior to training commencing.

You should treat fellow students with respect.

Students should respond to instructors with a positive attitude.

Instructors should be referred to as ‘Sir’ or ‘Miss’.

Students who neglect to train regularly without valid reason and without informing their respective instructors will not be considered for promotion tests, seminars or competitions.

Students who display inadequate respect, effort and behaviours mentioned above during training may be demoted and/or excluded from training and club events on a temporary or permanent basis.

Students and instructors should be aware of, and conduct themselves, where possible, by the 5 tenets of Taekwondo.
They are:

1 Self-control
2 Indomitable Spirit
3 Modesty
4 Perseverance
5 Etiquette

Fingernails and toenails should be neatly trimmed to a reasonable length to help avoid injury to themselves and others.

Open wounds must be covered with a plaster, or surgical tape and a dressing.

Any protruding piercings should be covered with an adhesive dressing, surgical tape or plaster.

Any watches or jewellery should be removed prior to training, and long hair should be tied back.

Chewing gum should be disposed of in the litter bins provided, prior to training.

Mobile telephones should be switched off during training sessions, gradings and seminars.

Any infections such as athlete’s foot, verrucas etc. should be reported to your instructor to avoid the infection spreading. Students should be open and honest about this – there is no need to feel embarrassed as this is common practice in sporting communities.

Parents collecting children should be present 5 minutes prior to the class finishing time in order to ensure the safety of their children and also to give the instructors the opportunity to discuss any issues.

Students should aim to arrive for training approximately 10 minutes prior to the session to ensure that the lesson commences on time, thus reducing any loss in training time.

Students arriving late can complicate warm ups etc. and distract students who were prompt.

The student’s dobok (training uniform) should be clean and ironed for each training session to ensure good hygiene and presentation.

Any form of bullying between students will not be tolerated and guilty parties will be banned temporarily or permanently depending on the case.
