Getting Started
Firstly, if you have a horrified look on your face having seen pictures like this (eyes right) then fear not - you do not have to be flexible before joining Dal Seong Taekwondo!
The reason we have decided to clarify this is because many people are put off starting martial arts because they automatically assume that you have to be able to do the splits... we can assure you that this is a common misconception.
If you are interested in joining Dal Seong Taekwondo, then all you need to do is the following:
Turn up to one of the lessons listed in the ‘classes’ section of this website.
Wear tracksuit bottoms/shorts and a loose t-shirt
Ensure your nails are trimmed to a reasonable length
Do not eat within one hour of the start of the lesson
Bring a drink with you (not fizzy)
Try and be at the venue approximately 15 minutes before the start of the training session to talk to the instructor to introduce yourself and discuss any special requirements you may have
Nervous? Don’t worry, our instructors are friendly and approachable, and everyone has to start somewhere. Your first challenge is walking through the door.
Once you have trained for approximately 3-4 sessions you will be asked to decide whether you want to join the club. If so, you will need to complete a licence/membership/insurance form and pay the appropriate fee. You may also want to consider purchasing a Dobok (training uniform) – this can also be obtained from your instructor. |
