BINGLEY GILBERT AND SULLIVAN SOCIETY
The Society was formed in 1957, and had its roots in Bingley United Reformed Church. the aim of the society is to produce one of the operettas of W.S.Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan performed at Bingley Arts Centre at the end of April each year.
In July 1981 the Society leased premises behind St.Lawence's Church in Eldwick to use for rehearsals, which are held on Monday and Thursday evenings, and this has been our venue until 2003 when unfortunately, due to asbestos being found in the building, our rehearsal home had to be demolished. We now rehearse at Lady Lane Park School and have an excellent relationship with both staff and pupils.
Each year when our financial situation is clarified we set aside several hundred pounds to be shared between various local charities. If you feel we could support your local cause in any way, please do not hesitate to contact the our Secretary.
We are always pleased to welcome new members to either sing with us or perform one of the many none singing roles required by any successful organisation such as ours..detailed below if you would like to join us.
Anyone wishing to become a patron would also be most welcome. Our Patrons are given priority booking for any evening of the Annual Show and Concert, and are allotted two tickets for the Annual Show which are included in the Patronage. They are also kept informed of any of the events which are taking place socially during the year, and our busy Social Committee makes sure that these events are great fun and well worth attending.
