Welcome to

We are always looking for new members.

If you are interested in creative film making, acting, writing scripts, or just watching films, then come along and see what the club has to offer.

See the Events Calendar for "What's on". You will be made most welcome. Remember, this is an amateur club, we are by no means all experts but we can learn from others.

At the very least if you are considering buying a camcorder you can rely on getting unbiased advice from members.

It is a matter of pride that we make club films and here is a way to gain experience.
Individual members films can be story films, documentaries, animation or holiday films.

Owners of camcorders who wish to get more out their hobby should also have a look at Mercury Movie Makers.

We meet every Wednesday evening at Rawdon Conservative Club at 7:30pm.
For more details contact 0113 2674868 or 01274 563269

Mercury Movie Makers are affiliated to the Institute of Amateur Cinematographers (IAC)

What do we do?

Mercury Movie Makers promotes the making of entertaining films.

The programme for our meetings are varied and can be :-

Guests from other clubs or societies invited to show their films, explaining how and why they were made.

Members film evenings show their films and get advice on how to improve their skills.

Training programmes are given by members. Topics such as “Script Writing”, “Know your camera”. “Use of lighting”, “Use of sound”, “Computer editing”, “Use of tripod” etc.

We participate in a club film every year for a national IAC competition.

Competitions are held throughout the year with other clubs and within the club on subjects such as :-
Video to Music, Out and About, Documentary, Holiday, Novice, Fiction etc.

Members activities

By reason of trying to get good footage and being in the right place one member of Mercury filmed ex President of U.S.A Bill Clinton whilst another member David Myers (a driving instructor) struck up a friendship with the late Fred Dibnah.

We were pleased to welcome personalities from the world of broadcasting to judge one of our competitions.
Recently we seem to have had quite a bit of exposure in the news having appeared in The Yorkshire Evening Post and in the Telegraph and Argus. But getting to an even larger audience our society and our cinema was featured on ITV Yorkshire's "Calendar"on 7th July 2006.

During 2006 some of our new members were prompted to find out more about us from the "Insider" magazine which circulates in Baildon and Bingley.
