Saltaire Rangers FC
The Saltaire-based Rosse FC have changed name to Saltaire Rangers for the forthcoming season. The club started life as The Branch in division three of the Wharfedale Sunday League in 1992-1993 as a breakaway from a team running from the Ring O’Bells Shipley. The club only lost one game in the initial season and quickly reached the top flight. But the elevation came too quickly and once in the premier the club suffered a series of defeats. A decision was made to switch to the Alliance and the club, who had become Rosse FC, were not allocated to division 4A. Instead they were elevated to division 3B, which was short of a team for 1999-2000. Rosse justified their inclusion in the higher division and finished fifth with 14 wins from 24 games. The following season, one or two teams dropped out and Rosse found themselves in division 2A and in a division of which Wyke Wanderers and Shoulder of Mutton were clear winners. Rosse were pleased with a healthy mid-table position in their first division 2A season. |
