First Meeting is a MASSIVE sucess
HORSE passports, ragwort and equine first aid were some of the topics up for discussion at the inaugural meeting of the Trawden Forest and Borders Bridleways Association. About 50 people attended the meeting at the Alma Inn, Laneshaw Bridge, including vet John Millar, from the Aireworth Veterinary Centre, who lent his expertise to discussions. One of the items on the agenda was suggestions for ways of raising funds to undertake the legal work involved in organising bridleways designation orders. Participants put their heads together and came up with the idea of running a pony judging competition, featuring four different categories bonny pony, handsome horse, ugly duckling and muddiest scruff. Horse and pony owners are being urged to rifle through their photograph collections and submit any which they feel fall into one, or more, of the four categories. The cost of entering the comptition is 1 a class, and rosettes will be awarded to the first and second-place winners. All entries must be submitted by Monday, March 29th, in time for the groups next meeting, when the judging will take place. Participants should enclose a stamped-addressed envelope, if they wish their photographs to be returned. Alternatively, they can collect them during the meeting, which will once again take place from 7-30 p.m. 31st March onwards at the Alma Inn. Entries should be addressed to Sam Eastell at The Nursery, Green Syke Farm, Colne Road, Cowling, BB22 ONA For more information about the association, ring Sam on 07985118176. |
