After a dreadful result Baildon looked to bounce back against East End Park WMC. Both teams found it heavy going on a sticky pitch after some heavy rain.

Trinity started with a 3-4-3 formation to try to force an early goal but in truth neither side made much ground as both defences stood firm and the match remained goaless at the break.
Both teams worked hard after the change round to make a break through and ten minutes into the second half Trinity scored out of the blue. A cross from the right should have been dealt with but the keeper made a real mess of it and ANDY HARON bundled the ball home.
Baildon then missed two excellent chances to make the game safe with Nick James and Paul Clarke the culprits but time running out the points looked safe.
East End never gave up and 3 minutes from time the number 11 was allowed to run at the defence and when a gap opened he drove home.
Baildon Trinity missed a good opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the division and with just one point from two games the gap is closing.

West Yorkshire League Premier Division

Carlton Athletic

17/08/2002 HOME lost 1-2

Baildon Trinity started their first season in the West Yorkshire Premier League against the side that has finished first and third in the last two seasons.

Few people gave Baildon a chance against one of the fancied teams in the division but they gave o good account of themselves.

The first forty five minutes was one of few chances with Carlton creating the better of the few in the half. Indeed, they converted one of these when the number nine beat the offside trap and neatly tucked the ball home.

HT Baildon Trinity Athletic 0 Carlton Athletic 1
Baildon came out refreshed after the break and really got at the visitors. They got their reward after some neat work down the left by skipper Mark Spilsbury and winger Paul Clarke resulted in Richard Harris knocking in Clarke's cross. Both sides pushed forward after this but cancelled each other out with a draw seemingly likely and a fair result. However, in the 90th minute, a needless free-kick was given away by the hosts deep in their own half of the pitch and the resulting dead ball was headed home from close range. It was unfortunate for Baildon but they showed enough in this game to suggest they will win more than they loose if they can cut out silly errors.

28/08/04 Boroughbridge (H)
Lady luck today deserted Trinity as they went down to their first defeat of the season. Baildon were flying from the start and attacking the dell end bossed the early part of the game. The visitors, who were physically bigger than the home team, seemed content to defend and launch the ball long and high when in possession. The early chances in the game both fell to the hosts as both Billy Duffy and Danny Steele had good attempts on goal. The star of the day was the visiting goalkeeper, known as Oggy, who stopped everything thrown at him and commanded the box well.
Despite early pressure, it was Boroughbridge who took the lead.On 25mins Baildon lost the ball on the halfway line and Bridge broke down the right with the resulting cross being knocked home. This was the visitors first attempt on goal and was against the run of play. This set back seemed to upset the home teams rhythm with play becoming ragged and a loss of discipline resulted in some needless free kicks being conceded.

Baildon again regained composure and James Batley dribbled his way through and managed an attempt at goal, despite being tripped, but as well as beating the 'keeper it cleared the crossbar. Graham Carney and Oliver Spence had some defensive work of their own to do and managed to thwart a Borough attack but at the expense of a corner which came to nothing.
On 32mins a superb through ball sent Batley clear but he again flashed his shot high.
HT TRINITY 0 BRIDGE 1

The second half continued in the same vain with Trinity trying to pass their way to goal while the visitors were happy to hit long high balls. It was from such a raid after 50 mins that the lead was doubled. A ball over the top was chased down and as the Baildon keeper raced out of his goal the Borough forward expertly lobbed the ball over his head and into the net.

Further attempts to score by Steele and Duffy were saved by the keeper and a tremendous shot on the half volley by Milner again landed in the goalies arms. Duffy shot wide and a Steele effort was bundled out for a corner. A free kick for Bridge was well held by the home stopper.

Boroughbridge wrapped it up in stoppage time when a shot was hit hard and low through the crowd and into the home net. A disappointing end to a good game for the home team who didn't deserve to get beaten by three goals to nil

01/09/04 Trinity v Ossett Common Rovers
Baildon bounced back from Saturday’s disappointment to take the points in 7 goal thriller. Defending the dell end, the home side showed they meant business as early as the second minute when James Batley smacked one in only to see it deflected for a corner. Baildon continued to press and after the visitors keeper dropped a cross, Batley shot just wide. The break through came on 17 minutes when midfielder Danny Jowett caught a cross on the half volley and smashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 35 yards. It wasn't all one way traffic though and Ossett drew level 2 minutes later. Baildon conceded a free-kick on their right which was floated in to the area. Danny Morton came to collect the cross but juggled with the ball knocking it goalwards and despite a frantic effort from a defender on the line the ball crept in. Both sides continued to attack with Simon Dawson going close for the hosts after a break down the right and a cross from Danny Steele. Ossett came back strongly forcing a series of corners hitting the post from one of them.
Baildon regained the lead after 42 minutes play when another Steele cross from the right was knocked home by Batley.
HT Baildon 2 Ossett 1

The second half mirrored the first and within a couple of minutes the home team created two good scoring chances, both from corners, the first put wide before John North saw his shot on the turn deflected for another corner. Ossett again drew level when Graham Carney threw them a life line on 53 minutes needlessly pushing an opponent in the back to concede a penalty. Morton dived correctly but couldn't prevent the ball from agonisingly crossing the line.
Baildon stormed back and a throw in down the right created an opening for North but he shot straight at the keeper. Trinity went in front again when a cross from the right was lashed in by Steele on 59mins but Ossett weren't finished yet. 14 minutes later they made it all square again when a mix up in defence allowed a tap in after a good save from Morton in the home goal. Both sides would have been forgiven for settling for a point after this but the pace never dropped as they both looked for a win.
The winning goal arrived just 2 mins after Ossett equalised when Batley found himself in space just outside the visitors penalty area and unleashed a shot that flew in past the 'keepers despairing dive to his left on 75mins.. Batley could have completed his hat-trick running onto an up and under but shot wide. In stoppage time Steele laid a chance on a plate for Danny Milner but he shot straight at the 'keeper.

Baildon Trinity Athletic v Bardsey

Morton, Webb, North J, Carney, Spence, Malyon S, Dawson, Milner, Jowett, Haron M, Bakare. Subs: Firth, Bates H
With a cross wind blowing strongly over the pitch, the game kicked off late due to the late arrival of the match officials with Baildon attacking the dell end, and attack they did. Simon Dawson found room and got on to the end of a John North cross five minutes in but didn't threaten the Bardsey goal.
The first real chance fell to the visitors after 10 mins when the Baildon defence failed to deal with a ball into the area but Danny Morton in goal pulled off a magnificent save, diving to his right. The resulting corner produced a shot over the bar.Baildon hit back when Michael Haron found space down the left hand side but shot over the bar. Baildon's next attack came down the right but the shot went wide. The frustration of the home players was beginning to show when Danny Milner was booked for foul and abusive language after only 18 mins. Bardsey began to take hold of the match and created an opening after 22 mins but shot wide. The home team looked out of sorts and were clearly missing the strike partnership of James Batley and Danny Steele.
The referee was reaching for his note book again on the 25 minute mark when a bad challenge on John North down the left saw the visitors number 7 yellow carded. Bardsey looked dangerous attacking the Trinity right flank and opened the scoring from such a raid. The lively winger cut into the box and went to ground on 29 mins play which the ref saw as a penalty. Danny Jowett was next into the book for commenting on the decision. From the resulting penalty, Morton made himself a hero when he dived to his right and saved the kick. Undeterred, Bardsey floated in a free kick from the left of Trinitys' area straight after and their player rose at the far post and nodded home.
Within 60 seconds of the re-start Dawson saw his effort fly over the bar. This was typical of the half for Baildon who were restricted to long range efforts which didn't trouble the visitors 'Keeper. From the goal kick Dawson again found himself in the thick of it as he conceded a free-kick on the edge of his own area and became the fourth player to see the refs yellow card. Bardsey took full advantage of this error when their player smashed a shot in to the bottom corner from a sideward pass from the resulting free kick. Baildon won a corner just after but it was well cleared.
With a minute to half time the visitors strengthened their hold on the game when a superb mazy run took a visiting player round four home players before he knocked the ball into the corner of Mortons goal.

HT Trinity 0 Bardsey 3

Whatever manager Neil Barlow said to his troops at half time should be bottled and sold. 10 mins in and Haron rose on the left to head in a cross to give fresh hope to the hosts. Baildon then forced a series of corners which finally ended when centre half Oliver Spence shot wide. Bardsey hit back on the break but shot straight at the home 'keeper. After 73mins Baildon pulled a second goal out of the bag when Haron again converted a cross, this time appearing on the right hand side.

Bardsey tried to add to their tally but could only head a cross from a free kick straight at Morton in the home goal.
After 77 mins the game turned into a farce after the referee, who had made some odd rulings throughout the game, decided Milner had made one comment too many and showed him his second yellow card and therefore a red for 'appealing too loudly' for offside!!! The home officials were angered by the decision and this seemed to spur the ref on to rule more and more against them. Bardsey again tried to increase their lead on 80 mins when a corner was only half cleared but their player shot wide from the edge of the box. Two mins later and Baildon were down to nine when Jowett received his second yellow for a foul on the right wing.
The referee had the final say on the game when he awarded the visitors their second penalty of the afternoon on 84mins for what looked like a perfectly good tackle. Morton again superbly saved the kick but couldn't prevent the follow up from crossing the line.
This was a good game of football spoilt by a referee intent on brandishing yellow and red cards for the flimsiest of reasons which resulted in him losing control of the game late on.

17/08/05 Churwell Lions (H) Lost
1-2

20/08/05 AFC Emley (H) Lost
1-2
A brace of goals, one in each half, by Mel Holford gave AFC Emley a very hard worked win at The Dell.

Playing on a bone hard field where the ball spent most of its time in the air, this victory, although not pretty was welcome because other sides will drop points against very game opponents. In fact the home side had their fair share of opportunities in the first half after Holford had put Emley in front after 12 minutes following good work on the left by skipper Phil Smith. Smith's accurate cross was met by Holford whose first time effort beat the home keeper. Emley keeper Stephenson had to be alert on 30 minutes when faced one on one, but he dived bravely at the feet of the on rushing home attacker pushing the ball to safety.
AFC Emley went further ahead 10 minutes into the second half when Holford grabbed his second after good work by Flynn. However, almost immediately the lead was cut by half when the home side were given a somewhat dubious penalty from which Steele scored from the spot. In fact AFC should themselves have had a penalty when a defender pushed the ball away with his hand but the referee was in no position to award the kick.
There were few further problems to face AFC who should gain heart from this hard fought but well deserved win.

AFC Emley ground out a hard fought victory against dogged opponents in Baildon Trinity Athletic.
Things started very well for AFC when after only 3 minutes following the award of a free kick some 25 yards from goal, Craig Hitchen's quick thinking saw the away keeper out of position and placed the ball in the opposite corner. Chances were few with both defences staying firm. The game came to life in the 35th minute when the tireless Max Joice won the ball in midfield and coolly placed his shot passed the advancing keeper.
Baildon then turned defence into attack and in the 40th minute Harris picked the ball up in his own half and ran the length of the field before being brought down in the penalty area by O'Reilly who was cautioned. Basildon’s North coolly placed the resulting penalty passed keeper Stephenson.
The second half was again dominated by both defences and AFC had to change the play by bringing on another forward, John Paul Flynn for debutant Wallace. On 75 minutes AFC increased their lead when Joice sent a corner into the danger area. His curling corner was punched against his own post by Baildon keeper Aveyard and the rebound again struck the keeper and bounced into the net. No further problems arose for the home side who ran out worthy 3 - 1 winners

10/12/05 Churwell Lions (A) Won 2-1

07/01/06 Ilkley (A) Won
5-0
After a fairly even opening 20 mins Baildon began to stamp their authority on the game and opened the scoring with a Micky Haran header. Haran found himself free of his marker and connected easily with a corner kick from the right. Baildon should have doubled the lead moments after when poor marking at another corner allowed the visitors in but the chance was missed.

The lead was extended later in the half when Lanre Bakare bamboozled two Ilkley defenders and fired in a good shot that the Ilkley keeper, Jones, palmed out. Andrew Radosevic was quickest to the rebound and slotted the ball home to give Trinity a 2-0 half time lead.

Ilkley started the second half determined to reduce the deficit but the Baildon defence stood firm and hit Ilkley on the break. Substitute Chris Cookson added a third to put the tie beyond Ilkleys’ reach. The more Ilkley chased the game the more space Baildons’ forwards found and another goal each for Radosevic and Cookson gave Baildon their biggest league win for a few years.
