Locally written musical comedy heads for Spain and Catford
Below Stairs is the new locally written musical set in 1914. Staged to rave reviews in the local press in May 2002, this exciting new musical comedy is now to be produced in Javea, Spain, by the Javea Players on 31 March-5 April. Following auditions in January, rehearsals are now in full swing and the company is very excited about the project, seeing it as the "European premiere".
Then, six months later, the show is to be produced by the Utopia Operatic Society in Catford, south London. This company has selected the show in what is their centenary year, which underlines the value they attach to it.
At the same time, efforts to promote the show nationally -- which is what one critic insisted the show deserves -- are continuing, mainly through ads in publications of NODA, the National Operatic and Dramatic Society. Writer Trevor Pilling is also in contact with professional producers and so-called 'angels', who invest in productions.
