We Rescue Cats - Unwanted, Abandoned or Born in the Wild

We are all Volunteers
Our charity is small and operated entirely by volunteers. Our 'motto' is that we always respond even when the National Charities have declined to help.
We have just two problems that restrict the help we can give: the most difficult is shortage of money; the next is shortage of fosterers who can look after cats and kittens while they are convalescing or waiting for a new home.
Fund Raising
Our volunteers hold charity stalls whenever the weather is kind enough, most often in Bourne End on Saturday mornings outside the Natwest Bank. Please support them if you can. Though our administrative costs are very low the price of veterinary treatment is very high.
Caring for Our Cats
We do our best to ensure that cats are as fit and healthy as practicable before they are entrusted to a new owner. We test them for the most serious diseases and vaccinate them appropriately. They are examined by a qualified Veterinary Practitioner. If a cat needs regular treatment then in needy cases we may be able to assist with the cost of care.
We often refuse to allow cats to go to a home where there is a high risk of injury or death on the road. We insist that kittens go to a home where there is someone at home most of the day. In practice many people find that an adult cat is less demanding than kittens and becomes a good companion more quickly.
If you take a cat we will contact you to enquire about its welfare and one of our volunteers may visit to see that all is well. We are particularly anxious that females are neutered as soon as they are old enough, and may issue vouchers to cover the cost.
Working Together
We work with other animal welfare organisations, particularly neighbouring small groups, to ensure the best possible future life for rescued cats. This includes feral cats and kittens that are living in the wild or in an urban colony.
Can You Help?
If you can offer practical assistance, a donation or good quality goods for re-sale then please phone Marjorie on 01494 715345

Another Successful Year in 2006

Though in 2005 we had our usual struggle with fund raising (we cannot get the publicity given to the National Charities), we managed to rescue well over 100 cats in High Wycombe and surrounding areas.

We also helped several cat owners to recover their pets who had escaped while visiting the vet!

Some very good news: we have a vigorous new volunteer who, having 'learnt her trade' with the Celia Hammond charity in London, has moved to Wycombe and is helping us in every way she can.
And, though we must learn to do better, the proceeds from the annual Garden Party were £800. This is a significant increase from previous years.
Our regular stall at Bourne End could not be held as often as we would have liked - at first because of bad weather and then later because it was too hot! But we were luckier in October.
