Awards at Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival proved to be a busy time for the junior members of the congregation at All Saints, Daresbury this Sunday. Daniel Fawcett, 10, was awarded the Fred Lawrinson Shield for Junior Chorister of the Year, whilst Clair Sinker and Zoe Isherwood took over from Michaela Kay as the church's official Alice.

Daniel was awarded the Shield because he has worked extremely hard to improve, he is constantly singing to a high standard and has achieved over 80 % attendance which demonstrates his commitment to the church community.

The Shield is not given out every year, it is awarded to a Junior chorister who has made on outstanding contribution to the choir and the church community over the previous year. The award is in memory of Fred Lawrinson who was organist and choirmaster at Daresbury for 40 years.

From a tradition that dates back to the 1970's, each year, All Saints appoints an official 'Alice' to help with Church events. This year Clair Sinker, 10 and Zoe Isherwood, 10, will be in office for six months each and will perform a variety of roles within the church, including appearing at the Daresbury Garden Open Day and Church Fete in June, and handing out the Christingle candles.
