Introduction to the Altrincham Muslim Association
The Altrincham Muslim Association was set up in 1992 to cater for the spiritual, educational, social and recreational needs of the growing Muslim community in Altrincham and outlying areas (e.g. Bucklow Hill, Mere, Knutsford, Mobberly, Lymm, etc).
The Association currently has no centre of its own but hires out facilities locally to hold most of its activties.
Activties include:
* Madrassah (after-school Islamic school) every Monday and Friday between 5.30 pm and 7.30 pm for children aged between 5 and 15. Qur;an and Islamic Studies are taught.
* Weekly Islamic Studies Circles for men and women
* Weekly youth clubs for girls and boys
* Ladies' swimming on Saturday evenings
* Monthly lecture programme - the first Saturday in every month at 6.30 pm
* Tarawih prayers during Ramadhan
* Annual Eid Dinner
* Annual Islam Awareness Week which includes exhbitions, events and talks
* Family picnics, fairs and other social events
