Whats it all about?
In January 2001 Crewe Guardian sales rep Dave Preston approached the Staff Liason committee to set up the companies first Guardian inter-office ten pin bowling competition.
To cover the cost of the competition the then MD of Cheshire/Merseyside newsquest incorperating the Guardian Andy Tippler, agreed to support the competition by contributing over 60% of the cost.
The competition allowed one team from South Cheshire, Mid Cheshire,St Helens,Widnes, Gemini and two teams from the academy to enter.
The competition on March 29th 2001 held at the LA Bowl Warrington was a huge success with all the businesses coming under the Guardian umberella taking part.
The first winners of the competition 2001 were Widnes.
In 2002 new MD Chris Hughes agreed to continue the support of the competition, so the question now is who will be crowned winners on July 4th 2002?.
