The Alma Singers, founded in 1977 celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2007. The occasion was marked by a concert in the Sale Festival on June 15, 2007 at the Waterside Arts Centre, Sale.
The musical director, Margaret Curzon, appointed September 2009, with accompanist, Tony Heaton, leads this 30+ SATB choir. Each year the choir performs a variety of concerts, often helping charity and church groups to raise funds.
The Choir rehearse each Tuesday from 7.45 until 10.00 pm at the Avenue Methodist Church, Wincham Road, Sale. The Choir has a wide repertoire of music: songs from the shows, old favourites, madrigals, folk songs and songs from Africa introduced in 2009 by Margaret Curzon - everything from Bach to the Beatles and more! In addition several social events are held each year. The Choir is keen to recruit new singers, soprano, alto, tenor, in particular, are urgently required, and bass, so please contact Clare Lockett for more details: 01477 532763.
