MitE – Warrington
Background: "Mission in the Economy (MitE) is a registered charity, working on behalf of the churches within the economic life of the Mersey region. Formerly known as Liverpool Industrial Mission, MitE maintains a Team of Chaplains, Missioners and voluntary Associates who minister within public and private organisations and alongside people both in and out of work. Support is provided by a representative Council and by regional Church leaders who are patrons of MitE".
Its aims are: 1. To maintain a staff presence at key points in the economic life of the region.. 2. To promote analysis and reflection on economic issues. 3. To work for justice and wholeness in the economy 4. To encourage and resource the mission of the churches in economic life.
Warrington has been the. location of an Industrial Chaplain for many years; in fact a good case can be established for suggesting that the Warrington Industrial Chaplain was the first founding member of the Liverpool Industrial Mission! Over the years there have been a number of Chaplaincies and projects in Warrington which have reflected both the general objectives of MitE, and the differing interests of successive Industrial Chaplains.
Mission' Statement: MitE-Warrington exists to focus Christian concern for the economic life of the Warrington Borough
Aim: This focus will be facilitated by seeking to understand and respond appropriately to the economic issues within the life the Warrington community
Objectives: We will endeavour to achieve this aim by - 1. Supporting Christians involved in workplace ministry 2. Encouraging discussion around relevant issues by arranging themed lunches and other forums 3. Initiating projects in which there is a relationship between the Christian Churches and the economic community.
The Mission has sought to support MitE Warrington in its work within the town. |
Business Connections!
Over past years MitE has shared in the programme of activity at the annual north-west regional exhibition, Business Connections, with a stand display and seminar.
The Mite stall, staffed by MitE Warrington Chaplain Sister Bernadette Deegan and Mission minister the Rev Stephen Kingsnorth, is visited by Helen Southworth MP.
