Warrington Borough Council Apart from hosting various council events at the Mission, the minister is much involved in supporting various Council departments, initiatives and events. The Media The minister of the Mission writes a weekly Guardian column of Church News and a Cyberchurch column for the warrington worldwide website
Town Centre Warrington Partnership The minister represents the voluntary sector on the partnership which draws together a range of stake-holders within Warrington town centre, including those concerned with town centre management, commerce, community safety, transport, the media. He also serves as “unofficial chaplain” to the Golden Square Shopping Centre.
The Voluntary sector The minister serves on the executive of Warrington Council for Voluntary Service, and the Mission hosts regular voluntary sector lunches, where news is shared… WarringtonCVS@warrington.gov.uk
Warrington Ireland Reconciliation Enterprise (WIRE) Formed as an Umbrella organisation in the wake of the 1993 Bridge Street bombing, WIRE groups include the Town Centre Clergy, the Bridge (committed to reconciliation through the arts and culture), Peace ‘93, the Community Peace Walkers… (all groups supported by the Mission ministry)
Homelessness Issues The Mission hosts the “Tea ‘n’ Toast” drop-in on Monday and Saturday evenings, and members of the Mission support Warrington Action for Homeless (WAH) and Warrington Open Door at Christmas (WODAC)
NCH (formerly the National Children’s Home) The Mission actively supports the national Methodist charity as well as its Warrington “Butterfly Project”, nwbp@mail.nch.org.uk, supporting families where a child suffers a life-limiting or threatening condition. The Minister serves as chaplain for NCH in the north-west and on the charity’s national Council. (see the Links Page) |
