Percussion section leader - Stephen Peers
 | | Stephen banged his first 'drum' making good use of his mother's pots and pans at six months old !! He played the drum kit in the school band. Stephen joined Birchwood Drum and Trumpet Corps - 'The Green Lancers' in 1978 and was a founder member. One of Stephen's tutors on drums was present senior drummer with Warrington Phoenix - Steve Bowden. Stephen's first turnout was at Birchwood carnival in the spring of 1979 and he played at the Brighouse contest later that year. He marched at the first Drum Corps United Kingdom finals in 1980.Stephen was fortunate to have a member from The Phantom Regiment,Rockford/Loves Park,Ilinoi,U.S.A., stay with his family for three weeks teaching in the U.K. They are still friends and keep in touch today.Stephen left the Lancers later in 1980 and joined Elmwood Boys Brigade band.He stayed at Elmwood for six year's as The Red Invaders, Sentinals as field commander and Valley Sound.Stephen made DCUK finals for the last time in 1986 with Valley Sound and aged out.Stephen has competed against some of the finest bands/corps in the U.K. including Brighouse R.B.L., Dagenham Crusaders and Brighton Scouts. He joined Warrington Phoenix in 1993 and is an outstanding solo drummer. Stephen is also on the staff of the Cheshire Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps as Percussion Instructor. |
