If anyone is interested in joining a club for the 2008/2009 please e-mail via the mail form link or phone either John Trenbirth 0151 608 3637 or Stan wilkinson 0151 327 2181 for information. The League season runs from September to April. There are always teams on the lookout for players. Clubs are located at Arrowe Park,Heswall Tennis Club, New Ferry, Hoylake LTC,PArk Rd South,New Brighton Cricket Club,Wall Manor . Individual contact details are available on request.

Division 3 Report (23.03.08)
Spinners VII are 11 points short of promotion while nfgr III can pip them for the title if they gain maximum points from remaining fixtures.
Spinners VII suffered a blow in their bid for the title as they fell to 2nd placed nfgr III.
Graham Boyd won all three including a five setter with Ian Henderson where he trailed 2 games to nil.
Ken Hill led Ian by 2 games but Ian came back strongly to win 11-6 in the fifth.
Phil Evans came from 2 behind to beat Andy Bevan in the fifth. Ian beat Phil while Ken and Phil both beat John Martin. George Gebbie and Xaio Collins had trebles as nfgr V beat nfgr VIII.
Rob Kophammel and Usman Hyatt both beat Peter Gebbie. Neil Burdett and Dave Rennison each won three as Spinners VI overcame nfgr Vi for whom Chris Lewis beat John Martin in the fifth.
Colin Lewis also beat John Martin. Jake Bayliff beat Mike Cooper as Calday GS beat Eswa III.
Tom Hill won his usual 3 including an 11-7 win over Ken Grain in the decider. Ken beat Jake and Matt Clewett. Eswa III beat Spinners V. Ken Grain beat Brian Hall 11-9 in the fifth but lost 11-8 to Brian Knott in the fifth.Mike cooper beat Brian Hadfield in another five setter. R Waring lost B Hall 11-7 in the fifth but beat B Knott 11-3 in the decider. |
Division 2 Report (23.3.08)
Heswall III lead by 7 points from Spinners III with nfgr II a further 2 points behind. It looks like being decided when they meet as they all have games remaining against each other. |
Division 1 report (23.3.08)
nfgr are on the brink of the title with Phoenix looking favourites for 2nd as they have 4 games in hand on Eswa who are currently in that position.nbcc could also make a late challenge once they catch up with fixtures.
Nfgr won 7-3 at Spinners II with John Goodall unbeaten. Gemma Lloyd lost her 100% with defeats by Mike Horobin and Joe Cauldwell. Mike beat Gemma 15-13 in the fifth after Gemma had fought back to 2 all. Joe beat Gemma 11-7 4-11 11-9 11-9.Joe also beat Rob Wylie Jnr. Nfgr now need a maximum of 2 points from 3 games to clinch the title.Eswa remain in contention for runners up after an 8-2 win over Spinners.Gary Watson wins all three While Dave Blair and Ian Black lose to Steve Nicholls and beat John Simcox and Dave Morris.Tony Connor helps Phoenix triumph over nfgr 1a with a treble. He beats Maitreyi 12-10 in the fifth.Maitreyi beat Mike Ashton and Paul Thomas. Paul beat Rob Wylie Jnr in five and also overcame Aaron Rush. Brian Carter wins three and a brace for Ann Dakin over Gary Williams and Paul Loftus helps Pinewood II remain above the relegation spots.
it is also very tight at the bottom with all to play for between both Pinewood teams,Spinners II and Heswall. |

Ollie Henderson and Andy Bevan won 3 each as Spinners V beat their 8th team.
Geoff Hockaday and Neil Burdett both overcame Ian Henderson. Neil also took Ollie to a 5th game.
Steve Nicholls and Chris Hatton won 3 each as Spinners knocked out League newcomers Heswall Iv for whom Mike Clewett beat Dave Morris. Tony Connor and Paul Thomas had trebles to help Phoenix knock Hoylake out. Chris Lewis took Tom Hill to a deciding game but ended on the losing side.
Tom,John Simcox and Geoff Ashton all steering Spinners III to a comfortable win. John and Tom winning a marathon doubles against Chris and Andy Legge 24-22 in the middle game.
Ted Mcgiveron,Bill Lowe and Peter Roberts all helped Phoenix II progress without dropping a set.
Andy lost 11-9 in the fifth to Peter and 11-7 to Bill in the fifth. Ted came from 2 games down to beat Nigel Hobro. Ieuan Owen,Keith Smith and Jeff Sharpes beat Brians Hall,Knott and Hadfield comfortably despite a couple of scares for Jeff against Hall and Hadfield bith taking him to the deciding game.
RAFA CUP
Nfgr VI 1 eswa III 8
Bagavant Shivkumar beat John Murphy but that was all his 3rd div side mustered
Against 2nd div eswa III for whom John Barrow and Don South were unbeaten.
Hepple Cup
Pinewood C beat Spinners D 6-3
Bob Rawlinson beat the 3 Brians (hall,knott and Hadfield) to help Pinewood C progress in the
Vets cup. Mike Moss beat Brian Hall and Hadfield but lost to Knott. Eric McIlroy beat Brian Knott
But lost to messrs Hall and Hadfield.
