England Schools Internationals from the Wirral have included Mitchell Barker from Prentonand Jordyn Layfield.

Boys Under 13
Steve Nichols from Calday Grammar School beat fellow Wirral League player Stephen Broad in the final. His Calday Colleagues Chris Hatton and Ollie Bradley lost on the Semi and Quarter Finals respectively. Steve came 4th out of 6 in his group at the National finals winning 1 out of 5.
Boys Under 16
Chris Weir lost in the final.
Boys Under 19
Jonathan Taylor lost on the final to Tom Bray
Girls Under 16
Maitreyi Shivkumar won the girls final. In the National final Maitreyi played in a group of six people. She beat Amee Potts, Nurin Dharamshi and Becky House and lost to Sally Hughes and Stacey Furnival. This meant she was third in her group so did not get through to the knock-out. |
Team Event (12.10.06)
Boys Under 13
Calday Grammar School followed up there success in the Merseyside event by repeating the success at Blackburn over 3 new rivals. The school was again represented by Paul Lindfield,Steve Nichols,Ollie Bradley and Chris Hatton . All 4 players are in there 1st season in the Wirral League.
They now return to the same venue on Feb 19 for the regionals. John Symcox travelled as the non-playing reserve. They beat their Cheshire opponents 8-0 and had a 7-1 success over the side from Lancashire. They drew 4-4 with the cumbrian opponents but won on countback. The number 1 Paul won 4/6 Steve 5/6 Ollie 4/6 but the days hero was Chris as he won all 5 of his games.
Boys Under 19
Calday Grammar School fell at the 2nd hurdle this year.They lost all 3 matches against their
Opponents from Lancashire, Cheshire and Cumbria.
Mike Horobin and Gun Wei Tsang kept there places from the previous round but the brothers McTaggart were unavailable and this dented the teams chances. Tim Rose and Peter Goodchild
Took their places.
Boys Under 16
Birkdale School won the Merseyside area event beating Calday in the final.
Calday were represented by Peter Goodchild,Tim Rose,James Zarbel and Tom Stowell-Smith. |
