I descend from Albert Edward Squibb, and was born at "The Oaks" Darbys Lane, Oakdale.
Darbys Lane in those days was unmade road, a stream ran along side, trees, lots of fields, farms, small holdings, and a blacksmith who would dry your clothes around the forge fire, so your mum wouldn't get mad at you for having wet clothes.
Later we moved to Berkeley Ave. Alderney, we lived in the last bungalow and were surrounded by heathland, Kemp Wesh School hadn't been built, a stream ran at the back of us, we walked the dogs accross the heathland to Wimborne, and Moordown to visit my great Uncle George and his family. Father kept 300 chicken, many ducks and geese, goats, rabbits, cats and dogs, he grew all our veg, we were very self suffient. There were many gipsy camps on the heath in their romany caravans. A boy lived next door to us called John Painter, we played together, have a photo of him taken with me, his Mother died just after we moved , would love to meet him., and anothe
We moved again to Pound Lane Oakdale, near the 3 oak trees, the lane was unmade, with a pound at the Fernside Rd end, there were fields and cows, during the war a bomb dropped on a bungalow and a young boy was killed, bombs also fell on the heathland and left waterfilled craters, afterwards children played there.
I would love to hear from anyone connected to our family, also would like to find the parents of James Squibb and Martha Parish, and Martha's family. I have many more descendants in this family of Squibb's.
I have done another family tree of my grandmother Martha Annie Easons family from Merriot, and the Crewkerne areas of Somerset, it goes back to c1659.
And another of my mother's side of the family which starts from c1770 the Lambert and Trowbridge families in Sussex.
