Preservation is our Motto

Bournemouth & Poole Preservation Club was founded in 1979 for residents of the locality who were interested in preservation, and wished to share their interest with others.

The Club began to hold an annual Steam & Vehicle Rally to raise funds for local charities, and this soon out grew its original site on the scout field of Butchers Coppice. For many years this event was then held on the playing field of Oakmead College, but even this site soon became too small to accommodate all of our exhibitors and public attendance. Over the years we have donated well in excess of £86,000 to local charities since we began. In 2002 Nigel Curtis was appointed as Club Vice Chairman & Events Co-ordinator to restructure all the club events. Canford Park Arena became the new venue for the BPPC Annual Steam & Vehicle Rally in 2004.

Many of our members own vintage or classic vehicles, but we also have members who own collections such as bottles and lamps. Some members even own a miniature steam engine or stationery engine, whilst others may simply have an interest in days gone by. The Club has over 150 members and meets in the second function room of Hamworthy Social Club on the second Thursday of the month at 8pm, and we are always pleased to welcome new members. Anyone who has an interest in days gone by, or owns a classic car, bike, tractor, engine or collections will be more than welcome at any of the events.
