The Medieval Markets & Fairs of Christchurch by David Eels

The Medieval Markets & Fairs of Christchurch by local historian David Eels has been written to commemorate the 750th anniversary of St Faith’s Fair. Most of the book is based on the author’s study of contemporary documents and describes the importance of medieval fairs and markets to the local economy.

All proceeds from the sale of the book (£3.50) will be devoted to the funds of The Christchurch Antiquarians of which the author is a founder member. It is available from the Red House Museum, Christchurch Tourist Information, and other local outlets.

The Christchurch Antiquarians was founded with the specific aim of providing a focus for the study of the history and archaeology of Christchurch, with initial emphasis on the Norman castle.
