CSSC Weymouth-Angling Club

   We basically have 2 groups within the club, catering for the interests of shore anglers and boat anglers. The shore angling group which has around a dozen regulars organise a series of local competitions throughout the year. The boat angling group attracts a larger following and runs about 6 charter boat trips each year, including an annual 4 day trip to Alderney. These trips are well supported which means that the Angling Section is able to offset the typical £30-£50 per day cost by 30-40%.
Both shore and boat groups enter teams for the CSSA national competitions and often do very well.
   Weymouth is frequently chosen to host national events with its excellent local fishing and large fleet of Charter boats. Recently the Angling Section has taken over the running of a small but capable angling boat, owned by the CSSA. This boat is used by a syndicate within the Angling Section who bear the running costs of the boat and use it via a booking scheme. The syndicate currently has 10 Members each contributing £70-£100 per year to cover mooring fees and maintenance (which is itself a leisure activity). This is a highly cost effective route for members with an interest in small boats, but without the time and funds to go it alone.
