Reiki by Barbara

My daughter in law Sarah has been training in the alternative therapy field of Reiki. She acheived level 1 status and is now on her way to gaining level two.

Sarah looked into Reiki, not because she wanted to do it as a business, but because she has always been interested in alternative therapies and as her Mother was recovering from breast cancer, she wanted to do something positive to help.

When I was visiting my son Andrew, Sarah and their little boy Joesph last year, Sarah knowing I was also interested in alternative therapies, believing conventional and alternative can go hand in hand, she told of her training in the field of Reiki. She asked me if I would like her to do the Reiki on me; and ever the one to be willing to try something new: I readily agreed.

Sarah went to their bedroom and was alone for some time, as she had to prepare herself, before she began to treat me. Sarah explained as she placed her hands above my body, that I might feel quite intense heat or cold, on any part of my body, either way, both are good. Sarah started at my head and worked right down my body. After a few minutes or so, I could feel the heat beginning to start on my head, it was such a positive thing, real warmth. Sarah and I never spoke during the time of the treatment, but throughout my body I had these very warm, sometimes hot sensations. It seemed to be especially in places where I had undergone major surgery. Like my head because I have undergone two Transphynoidal operations and then on my abdoman/womb areas, because I have undergone four major abdominal operations as well. I felt totally relaxed throuhgout the and I think the treatment went on for nearly an hour. When Sarah had finished I felt really glowing and well.

Normally when I travel back from my son's home in Worthing, which is nearly 100 miles away, I am very tired and anxious. But after having this treatment I felt quite energised. It was really good. I got home without yawning my head off, that's a miracle!! Now every time I visit the family which unfortunately for me isn't often enough, Sarah gives me a tratment. I can only say this worked for me in this particular way. Other people might have other reactions, mine was a very positive one. I wish I could afford to have the treatment regularly in my district.

Meditation, Faith & Prayer

Dear Readers

As alternative therapies are tried and tested so has prayer. A long trial based from the USA, tested 2 groups having heart surgery. One group had extensive prayer including the Internet prayer groups where people of faith around the world were asked to pray for named persons. The other group had declined the prayer or had no active prayer. The USA studied, shown as a documentary earlier this year, revealed a significant benefit from prayer and so it is now introduced within that hospital.

I will find direct links to the research, the TV documentary and for prayer if you or a loved-one is facing surgery and ill health.

In the meantime, I enclose this link to prayer which has a very relaxing picture for meditation and prayer.
