Welcome to our website .....
 | Since our formation in 1999, the Friends have helped Bournemouth Borough Council's Countryside Officer's manage Kinson Common, a Local Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest as Countryside Volunteers. We are also associate members of the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. To find out more about the Countryside Volunteer Groups in north Bournemouth please click on the " NBCV" link below

Our volunteer work......
 | Litter -picking, wildlife recording and monitoring the site for anti-social behaviour such as arson are part of our work as well as liasing with residents and visitors about any problems that may occur on site. We have also placed bird and bat boxes around the site and are also undertaking surveys of fungi and moths as well as planning other projects for future records. In our Autumn/Winter work programme jobs such as scrub and gorse clearance are carried out.

Our partnership...
The Friends have a Committee of 7 members and hold quarterly meetings as well as our yearly AGM which is held at Pelhams Community Centre and open to all members. Much of our work involves organising our annual Community Open Day in August.
Guided walks are organised throughout the year and displays of our work can be found at Kinson Library, Pelhams and the Kinson Flower Show. Through very positive meetings with others involved in the partnership, such as... Urban Heaths Project -Dorset Police- Dorset Fire & Rescue Service- North Bournemouth Crime Prevention Panel- Bournemouth Borough Council and the help of local Councillors we have seen initiativies being implemented which have resolved many of the issues concerning those who regularly use Kinson Common.
