INTRODUCTION

MBS Festivals was formed in 2004, on the initiative of Terry Trevett (Founder/Secretary of Weyhill Electronic Organ Society), with a view to staging annual one-day festivals primarily for the benefit of music-lovers in Hampshire and Dorset. The Heathlands Hotel in Bournemouth was selected as the venue for the inaugural event and the festivals were given the appropriate title of 'MUSIC BY THE SEA'.

MANAGEMENT

Harvey Berry (General Secretary of Bournemouth Electronic Organ Society) and Lin Stanley (Secretary/Treasurer of Wessex Organ World Society) agreed to join Terry to form a management team and, with initial advice from Nicholas Martin, the inaugural festival was staged on Sunday 27 February 2005. Colin Ford (Chairman of Bournemouth Electronic Organ Society) joined the management team in 2006.
After four successful years at the Heathlands Hotel, the decision was taken to transfer the 2009 event to the Carrington House Hotel in Bournemouth.
