Quarrymen at the Punch Bowl Inn

In the 1880's, at least one Portland Quarryman resided
at the Punch Bowl Inn operated by Abraham STEVENS.
In 1881, Abraham's son Joseph (the quarryman)
STEVENS resided at the Inn.

Throughout the neighborhood, there were many a Portland Quarryman and his family.

Some of these were:
William WHITE, Richard COX, William PEARCE,
John & Edward STONE, William HOSKINS and
Richard SANSOM.
One of the local stone merchants was John SCRIVEN.
