New Project in Newport City
 | ASPIRATIONS PROJECT Aspirations is a new project which has recently been set up within the Newport area. The Aspirations Project is funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), Communities First and is run by Scope.
The aim of the Project is to develop an outreach information service for disabled and disadvantaged people living within the Newport area.
The project will enhance existing services and will signpost and support individuals to available local provisions.

Project Update
The project had been running since 1st May 2004 and it has proven to be very successful so far.
The Community Outreach support workers have been working very closely with 3 Community First Wards within the Newport area, these ares are: Bettws, Duffryn and Pilgwenlly
We have had many success stories so far and we hope to make a difference to disabled and disadvantaged people who are looking for equality and services that will accommodate their needes in training, education and employment services.

Support Group
Bettws Support Group For Parents
The Aspirations Outreach Worker for Bettws and Duffryn Kerry Duke is in the process of setting up a support group aimed at adults in the Bettws area who have children who have recognised behavioural Problems, This may include Autism, Asbergers and ADHD.
The Gwent Autistic Society will be providing information and support for the group and will initially start the group in the aim it will be self sustainable within the area.
The aim of the group is for parents to share experiences and problems with other parents living in Bettws.

Updates on this support group will be added after it has been discussed in the health / wellbeing and Active Community Task Group metting in Bettws.

Aspirations Project - celebrates its First Birthday
The Aspirations Project has been running for over a year now and i would just like to say thanks for all the support that all the organisations, projects and services within Newport has given to the outreach workers.
Keep up the networking and sharing of good practice.
