Welcome to Driving Mum and Dad Crazy

WELCOME ONE AND ALL

First of all I would like to thank you for showing an interest in our group.

We are a local support group aimed at providing help, information and support to all those who not only live with an ADHD sufferer but also to those who work with them.

Attention Defecit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a very misunderstood disability. It can be very difficult for parents and carers to deal with but the effects it has on the child can be devastating.

These children are not by any means stupid, in fact they are often very intelligent. ADHD is caused by a chemical imbalance of the brain. This makes it very difficult for the child to be able to focus or concentrate. They also have very little understanding of the world around them.

Children with ADHD need a lot of time, care and attention. This is what we aim to do. We want them to feel as though they are worth something and that they are just as good as others.

Driving Mum and Dad Crazy is not just a support group for the parents it is also there for the children as well. In time we aim to be able to provide a weekly workshop for our children where they can mix with other children with the same difficulties. This workshop will enable them to express themselves not just through play but also through arts, crafts, drama and music.

There are also a number of fundraising activities in the pipeline. The funds that are raised will be for the children. We want to be able to take them out, have parties for them on their birthdays as well as at Easter, Haloween and Christmas.

However, to achieve this we need support. We need you to help us help you.

We hold monthly meetings and the details of these meetings are posted on the groups' event calender.

If you have a child with ADHD or know of someone that does and would be interested in joining us then please feel free to e-mail me at Gizmoa75@hotmail.com

I hope to hear from you soon.
