Ts Battle hard against Rampaging Rhinos

Old   Ts went down 63 - 7 in the first game of the season. The first 20 minutes saw them frustrate Rhinos into kicking for goal in horrendous wind and rain.
After only 2 minutes Outside half Jamie James was Put off the foeld by what seemed to be a deliberate double knee drop into his ribs.
This totally disupted the Ts back line who were up against a well drilled Rhinos back line who ran the angles very well and ran in 7 tries in the first half.
ts were further depleted when Prop Lee Griffiths was sent off for abusive language after a scuffle on the opposition line  early in the 2nd half and when dai was sidelined after a bump in the face / hea it put a stop to any chances of a revival they might have had.
The Ts youngsters kept at it and made good contributions on the wing and center and later on as Dan came on to non contest the scrums.
Paul Chivers and Kevin Mitchel led well from the front with Mitchel adding a new aspect of open side play that the Ts have missed in recent seasons.
Dewi lloyd rounded off a mixed game at Scrum half after a slapped pass had led to Jamie James exit, he scored the Ts  try well converted by Chivers , to be sin binned in the last 3 minutes for verbals.
Rhinos continued to pressure throughout the 2nd half and with some good play aided by some lack lustre refereeing ended the game worthy winners.- Good luck for 06/07
It was great to see so many back at the Corner club later both Rhymney and Ts players enjoying a few beers as it should be. Thanks to all involved.

better luck next game.
