Save St David Lewis Primary School Bettws
SUPPORT OUR CAMPAIGN TO SAVE THIS SCHOOL FROM CLOSURE
Campaigners have been trying to stop a proposal to close St David Lewis for over a year. In March 2005 the Archdiocese and LEA proposed to close the school and move all children to St Marys RC at Queens Hill Newport City Centre.
On the night of the informal consultation through information gained from the Governors and Action Group , it was realised by the Authorities that there was no room for the whole of St David Lewis to move over to St Marys.
Nearly a year on with a closure date of 2007, a new proposal has been given. St David Lewis will possible be closed and all Catholic Children will be found places at catholic schools across Newport. St David Lewis will be split up.
All those others would be foudn places in Monnow or Millbrook Schools on Bettws Estate, non catholic state schools.
WE ARE NOW STEPPING UP THE FIGHT FOR 2006. WE WILL TAKE THIS ALL THE WAY TO THE WELSH ASSEMBLY AND WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.
More details to follow on future events

Bettws is a designated Communities First Ward in Newport, the 51st most deprived ward in Wales. It is the 7th most deprived ward for Education in Wales and 1st in Newport (Welsh Index of Deprivation).
Why take away the education when it so desperatly needs more money ploughed in.
