Good at reading maps?

It is a well known saying that: ‘the wrong road never led to the right place’.

If we want to go to Scotland from Southampton then its no good travelling south!. Scotland is north.

We can use this example of travelling to demonstrate another important point: that of belief and faith in God.

As far as belief in God is concerned there are only two ways worthy of serious consideration: the right way and the wrong way.

The wrong road will lead us away from belief in God and the right road will lead us to believe in Him. Sounds simple enough but you’ll be amazed how difficult people will want to make it sound to avoid facing the truth.

So, the $64,000 question is this: "Are you on the right road or the wrong road?"

Your answer you give will reveal at once the road along which you are currently travelling. You may say:

"I don’t believe in God"
"Mind your own business!"
"I’ve got my own religion, thank you!"
"Religion is the cause of all wars"
"I’m already a member of the XYZ denomination"
"I’ve been baptised and my name’s on the register"
"My mum played the church organ and Dad was a curate"

It has to be faced, these ‘answers’ amount to the same thing: You’re on the wrong road. How can I be so sure? Because a Christian believer will answer immediately, "Jesus Christ", He is the ‘way’ along which they travel.

Faith in Him is the right road to belief in God. All other roads are ‘dead-ends’.

The wrong road which you now journey along, is called in the Bible, ‘the wide path’ and this is for good reason. It's a road full of distracting things and wide enough to accommodate every thoughtless notion about God.

It’s also a very popular route, millions travel along it every day. But does popularity make it the right way to travel?

So again, that same question: "Are you on the right road or the wrong road?" The right road which leads to eternal life or the wrong road which leads to judgement and damnation?

My dear reader, if you do not believe in God through faith which is in Jesus Christ, then you are most definitely upon the wrong road.

"OK", you say: "If there is a right path, a Narrow Way to faith in God, can the route I travel be changed. Can I travel this route?"

The answer is ‘Yes, most definitely yes! Jesus said: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me".

Jesus is that way to God, that Narrow Way.

It is through faith in Him alone that we have access to the forgiveness of God. There is no other name under heaven, given among men whereby we must be saved, other than Jesus Christ.

It’s neither my way, nor your way nor the vicar’s way not even a pope’s way which counts. It’s God’s Way which is the Right Way.

And this Way is made clear in the Bible. This is what true Christians believe. For God is able (and willing!) to save to the uttermost, those who come to Him through faith in His Son.

May I encourage you to take these truths seriously, your eternal safety is in view here.

Faith, that mysterious yet very real means whereby we approach God, comes to us as we hear preaching from the Bible.
