ORIENTATION
This series of Brass Quartets compliments the first ten duets in The Step in Time for Brass Volume I, Easy Duets for Brass Players. Parts 1 and 2 (2 upper parts are now joined in harmony by parts 3 and 4.
A small or indeed larger ensemble may be built up to include:
Part 1 (1st Bb trumpet/cornet)
Part 2 (2nd Bb trumpet/cornet or Eb tenor horn)
Part 3 (Eb tenor horn, Bb baritone/euphonium/trombone)
Part 4 (Bb baritone/euphonium/trombone/bass or Eb bass)
Optional percussion parts available.
Each quartet has been either been composed or arranged by the composer in a variety of styles from Renaissance and Classical periods. Traditional tunes and Folk Songs together with original compositions are also included. Students will find that these duets will provide them with material with specific challenges in rhythm, range and key signatures. The music is aimed at being both instructive and enjoyable to perform. Teachers will find these quartets useful because each has been selected and arranged to challenge the student in different areas of technique and musicianship while providing examples in a variety of styles that are enjoyable to perform.
