18th Annual Festival in 2010

The 18th annual Festival of Sport with twin town Euskirchen is provisionally scheduled for the last weekend in June 2010 with approx 120 Sportsmen and Women expected to travel to Germany for the event.

Luxury Coaches will arrive at the Basingstoke Leisure Park on the Wednesday evening prior to the trip and depart at 9.00pm prompt. The group will sail from Dover to Calais on the midnight crossing and should arrive in Euskirchen on Thursday morning at 8:30am.

Note - All participants must have a European Health Insurance Card (From post office) along with a valid passport for the trip. Passports will be checked before departing Basingstoke and if not valid then no travel on the coach.

Participants are advised not to travel with expensive items if possible and take good care of what they do take. Some items have been lost in the past at the Phantasialand themepark when people have gone on fast rides or left bags next to rides !
Lights will be dimmed on coaches after leaving Calais and travelling through the night. Everyone is instructed to then turn off mobile phones and any game machines plus keep any ipods etc low via earphones so not to disturb those trying to sleep. It is advisable to bring a small pillow to assist sleeping which can be left on the coach over the weekend.

Euro's are required for lunch etc in the themepark and any snacks or presents etc over the weekend plus maybe lunch on the way home in Brussels.

Reminders that team leaders are FULLY RESPONSIBLE for all their participants behaviour, language and well being at all times during the weekend along with ensuring that coaches are kept clean and tidy with rubbish bags used at all times. Team leaders to check for anything left on coaches when group leaves the vehicle and especially on arrival in Euskirchen and back in Basingstoke.

After a light group breakfast, everyone will spend the day in the local Phantasialand themepark where they can experience the excellent Colorado Adventure, River Quest, Log Rides, Winja's Fear, Mystery Castle plus two new rides - Talocan and Black Mamba.

On return to Euskirchen everyone will be introduced to host families on Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday will be a mixture of free time and competition with the results and dance on Saturday evening.

Coaches depart for home on Sunday morning at 09:00 via Brussels Grandplace for lunch, Leg stretch in Calais prior to the ferry crossing and eventually arriving in Basingstoke late that evening at the expected time of 22:30.

The cost includes travel and insurance plus entry into the exciting Phantasialand themepark, hosting plus meals, accommodation and transport.

All team leaders are fully responsible for all members of their group at all times during this visit and are requested to try and ensure that everyone is quiet and where possible sleeps on the outward coach journey. The Festival guidelines also state that everyone does not go on deck whilst we are at sea for safety reasons. Also, all groups to remain together when leaving the coach at any stops on route.
