Narvik Area.
Bardufoss / Skaanland: 210 miles.

Porsanger Fjord.
Banak: 275 miles.

Varanger Fjord.
Karlboten / Nyborg: 310 miles.

APPENDIX VIII.



Particulars with regard to mine and torpedo.



Mines.
(a) Mines must not be dropped in less than 25ft. of water, preferably 30ft.
(b) Mines must not be laid in depths greater than 15 fathoms, preferably not greater than 12 fathoms.
(c) Mines should be laid from the lowest practicable height (not more than 250ft.) and at low flying speed (not more than 100 knots).
(d) Mines should not be laid closer than 300ft. to one another.
(e) A total of 54, 33 or 18 mines will be dropped depending on whether 3, 2 or 1 carrier takes part.

Torpedoes.
(a) Torpedoes must have a clear range of at least four cables in 6 fathoms or more of water.
(b) DA pistols will be fitted.
(c) A total of 12, 12 or 6 torpedoes will be dropped depending on whether 3, 2 or 1 carrier take part.

Stowage of Mines.
It will be necessary to provide temporary stowage in each carrier for a minimum of twenty-one A Mark I mines.

Proposed wording, in Swedish, of the warning pamphlets.



Lulea Harbour is mined.

Abandon your ship immediately as it will shortly be torpedoed.

Do not remain on the quays.



Particulars of Pamphlets.

(i) Weight and Dimensions of a Bundle

Weight - 5 lbs.

Dimensions - 8 1/2" x 5" x 4".

(ii) Number of pamphlets in each bundle.

1500 single sheets.

or 750 double sheets.

(iii) Method of Dropping.

A flare tube is generally employed but it seems that they can be thrown over the side with a "medicine ball" action.
