2005 Championships
A club championship year's results have probably never been closer and with barely a round to go in each main class, positions and points are up for grabs. Therefore making sure you enter the last races of the season could be critical. Just look at the various tables to see how many ties there are. At present these ties have NOT been broken.
In addition to the normal a.m. and p.m. series Championship for One Metre Yachts, three separate trophy events for One Metres, two trophy events for Marbleheads, a Championship series and two trophy events for radio A Class, there will be three additional trophy awards for 2005 as in 2004. Points scored in the various races will be counted towards arriving at an Overall IOM Club Champion, an Overall RA Champion and an Overall Club Radio Sailing Champion; See the points calculation item for more details. | |

Points Calculation
Events will be raced in normal format i.e the Low Point System as outlined in Standard Sailing Instructions Appendix A.
Skippers will then be awarded points towards the overall championships and Overall Champion Awards on the following basis:-
1. General
1.1 The Overall Champion Ratings System has been introduced in order that, at the end of a season, a Club Champion for both Radio A Class and Radio IOM Class Yachts can be assessed. This will also lead to the assessment of an Overall Club Champion taking all Radio Classes raced at the club into consideration.
1.2 The Championship Year runs from 1st January to 31st December and regular updates of the points awarded will be posted on the club websites and included in newsletters.
2. Qualifying Events
2.1 All scheduled club competitions and any National or District Championships or Open Events (excluding team championships) officially hosted and run by the club.
2.2 Each competition may be open to unregistered yachts but points for the purposse of these regulations shall only be awarded to competitors holding MYA membership cards, who are members of the club and with yachts that have a valid certificate.
3. Calculation of Competitor's Points
3.1 The number of points awarded to each competitor shall equal the number of competitors he/she beats plus one.
3.2 The race Officer, assuming he/she does not participate in the event racing, shall be awarded the same number of points as the winner of the event, except that the low entry bonus award (see 3.3) of extra points shall not apply to the race Officer.
3.3 To encourage support and with the aim of increasing the number of club members who participate in Club Competition sailing, there shall be a Low Entry Bonus. If the entry for a Club Competition falls below 20 for an IOM a.m. Series, IOM Cup RA Series event or RA Cup (or below 10 for other IOM p.m. Series or RM Cup competitions), an adjusting factor shall be applied such that the competitor receives points equal to those he/she would have been awarded had 20 (or 10) yachts competed.
