Kestrels

This young family of Kestrels were raised in a hollow tree close to the Itchen at Bishopstoke. The male will hunt, and the female will tend and feed until the birds are about 20 days old. After this period both birds hunt with the female continuing to feed. These birds have probably less than a week left before they leave the nest and will remain a family unit for several weeks afterwards. |

Sparrowhawk
 | | This Sparrowhawk landed in the apple tree in my garden and stayed just long enough for me to set up my camera and scope. The picture was taken through glass at a low shutter speed which took the edge off the quality but being my first opportunity to photograph a Sparrowhawk I was pleased to get this. |
